This is a tough decision. Both are great resorts, it really depends on your personality. The Royal Play Del Carmen, is romantic, luxurious, up beat, and located on a great white sand beach. The town of Play Del Carmen is a safe, authentic cultural experience with small shops, lots of authentic vendors, quaint little eateries, and some great night life. This resort will give you a great all inclusive honeymoon package in Playa Del Carmen and Riviera Maya.
Royal Cancun:
The Royal in Canun is a chic and cosmopolitan type of resort. Much different from other resorts in Cancun. Romance, pampering, and luxury are its calling card, not partying. Cancun has a Vegas feel to it, where you can definitely party the night away off the resort, and shop endlessly in upscale shops and stores. The beach here is also fantastic! The Royal in Cancun will give you a great all inclusive honeymoon package in Cancun.

Remember, the best resort for you is based on your personality. Doing your research before hand or discussing your honeymoon with a honeymoon designer can help make sure everything is perfect.

Here are my final tips on how to avoid honeymoon nightmares! If you have been following my tips, here is a quick revew of the first six.

These final two tips can really make the difference between a great honeymoon or one filled with stress and fighting.
7. Packing For Your Honeymoon: 
I recommend keeping your valuables on you – cameras, jewelry, medications etc. If you take a medication that is a matter of life or death, please take more with you than you need and have a new prescription written up as a back-up. You can never be too safe. Don’t take jewelry that you can’t live without! Last year, a friend of my husband was flying back from his honeymoon and during the flight connection his wife's jewelry was stolen out of their suitcase. Make sure you find out what the dress code requirements are for restaurants of your resort (if applicable). For example, some will require dress pants and close-toed shoes for men. Pack two days of essentials in your carry-on luggage if you have a connecting flight.
Speaking of carry-on and flight packing rules, all liquids should be 3.4 oz or less and in a quart sized Ziploc bag. When we were flying our family to Turks and Caicos last summer, my husband took a suitcase that I had wanted to be a checked bag, and he tried to bring it on as a carry on, well all of our liquids were in the suitcase, and they took all of our sunscreen and hair products! There is a lot of good information on the TSA website on what is allowed to be packed in your carry-on, and other security packing rules.
8. Learn How to Laugh Together: 
Before you leave for your honeymoon, you should always remember that we don’t live in a perfect world, and there is always a possibility that things may not go as planned. Having that in the back of your mind can make a big difference if things don’t go right. Having fun with each other and trying to make the best of it, can make a big difference between if you are going to argue or laugh during times of stress. This is not just good advice for your honeymoon, but will set the tone for your whole marriage when stressful times happen.

A honeymoon that helps you to relax, be pampered and have romance is crucial to starting your marriage on the right track. You should be willing to spend a little more money on your room than you normally would. Sometimes the basic room catagory at a resort is not much fancier than a Holiday Inn room. Again, you are not just spending the night somewhere, this is your honeymoon! If you can afford it, always go with a honeymoon suite, or better room category. A great room will provide you with the luxury, romance, and comfort that you both will need after all of the stress and planning you endured leading up to your wedding. Paying just a couple hundred dollars more can give you a totally different honeymoon experience.
Tip 6. Avoiding Stomach Issues and Sickness: 
Most of the honeymoon locations that I recommend to my clients are very safe and have good health records. Even with that good track record, you should still take some precautions and use good judgment while traveling. Even when a resort says it is safe to drink the water, I still recommend drinking only the bottled water that is available on your resort. The bottled water is purified and free of contaminants. Make sure when you eat meat, that it is cooked through. It doesn't have to be burnt or well done, just cooked to medium. I also recommend packing some anti-diarrhea and anti-nausea medicine. It is usually very expensive to purchase these types of things at your resort if you need them. Most of the time, you won't need these, but you should always bring a small amount just in case.
Most honeymoons will go on without a hitch, but these tips will help you take those extra precautions just in case.

If you have been reading my article on the 8 ways to avoid honeymoon nightmares, then you know that I have already touched on two of the most important aspects of having a dream honeymoon. Planning your honeymoon together, and doing your homework on the destinations and resorts you are interested in. Doing these two alone, increases your chances of a great honeymoon. You can get the honeymoon you are dreaming of by continuing to follow these eight steps. Here are steps three and four to avoiding a honeymoon disaster.
Step 3 Getting Your Passports Early: You can never apply for your passports too early! It is always better to start your passport application early. There can always be small hang ups with the processing of your passport. If you have a passport, double check your expiration date, to make sure that it will be current through your travel dates. Step 4 Keep Your Money Safe: Don’t carry large amounts of cash on you, when you travel.
Most places all over the world accept credit and debit cards now, and usually your bank will give you the best exchange rate. Divide your cash and credit cards among your spouse and you and never keep it entirely in one wallet or purse. If something happens to one of the money sources, you will still have the other available to you. When you are on a tour or off the resort, I always recommend that you put your money and credit cards in either a money belt or travel pouch that goes around your neck and can slide under your shirt where no one can see it. Most quality resorts, (that I would recommend) have very good safes in the room to keep all of your valuables in when you are not needing them. The general rule of thumb is to only carry the amount of money you will be needing in any particular situation, the rest can stay in your safe back in the room.
