Having a Destination Wedding on Dec 12, 2012: Dates Are Filling Fast

If you are thinking about having a destination wedding on 12/12/12, you may be running out of time. I have recently had several requests for destination weddings for the date 12/12/12, and I have found that many of my recommended destination wedding resorts are already filled for that date. In fact all of the Sandals and Beaches resorts are booked for that date already. If you really have your heart set on getting married on 12/12/12, you will need to act fast, as in the next two weeks, or there may not be any available wedding spots left.
What If you Can’t Get 12/12/12?
In a perfect world, destination wedding resorts would have your date available and never get booked up, but unfortunately the resorts only have limited time slots available, and the more popular the date and time, the quicker they fill up. You may want to consider an alternate date that would still give you that novelty quality. Some dates you may want to consider are 10/11/12, 12/20/12 or even 11/12/13 . There will always be some clever alternate dates available for your destination wedding.
What is Important About Your Date?
To be honest, unless you are picking the date for your destination wedding based on a close relative’s wedding date, or some other type of emotional importance, your date doesn’t affect your destination wedding at all. Most couples I work with give me a window of when they would like to get married, and then I begin to put together many different options of dates and times that are available to them. Dates are also determined by the legalities of getting married in each country. Usually there is a short minimum stay that each couple must complete before they can married. Of course that is my job, to help you find a date that works well for both you and your guests.
Getting Married is What Matters:
In the end, having a destination wedding is about you and your fiancé celebrating your love for each other by getting married in a tropical locale surrounded by your closest family and friends. People are going to remember your anniversary, not because of the date you picked, but because they love and remember you. Don’t let a particular date drive you to get married, let your desire to get married drive your wedding date.
